Domestic Worker Time Tracking: Legal Obligation

Domestic Worker 2026
How we do it

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it mandatory to record my domestic worker's hours?

Yes. Since 2022, the law obliges all household employers to daily record their domestic worker’s entry and exit times, and to keep that record for four years at the disposal of the Labor Inspectorate.

What happens if I don't keep a time record?

You could face financial penalties and, in the event of a claim from your domestic worker for unpaid hours, be left defenseless: without a record, the hours she alleges are presumed to be true.

Is the record different for live-in and live-out domestic workers?

Yes, in part. In both cases, daily entry and exit are recorded, but for live-in workers, minimum breaks and hours of presence must also be reflected.

How can I start recording working hours correctly?

We provide you with a ready-to-use template and review that it aligns with your contract and payroll, so that keeping your domestic worker’s record is quick, correct, and always ready for a possible inspection.
